Cuba is one the nations t hat training communism in their organization and had close ties with USSR before its breakdown [1] . After the breakdown of the Soviet Union the nation experienced hard efficient occasions portrayed by food deficiencies, absence of legitimate clinical administrations brought about by resettlement of specialists and general decrease in all the parts of the economy [2] . The Cuban government thought of another rule for remote speculation that expresses that the benefits charge be decreased into half and guarantee outside organizations are not burdened for a time of 8 years so as to pull in outside venture. It has discarded obligation free zones and modern stops in a mission to expand venture openings. Speculation is empowered in all the parts of the economy with the exception of in general wellbeing and training segments. Because of their exacting laws on the preservation of nature, any organization that its business meddles with the earth is precluded. Outside venture proposition exp eriences the service of exchange and remote speculation, which is later endorsed, by the Council of State, and Council Minister. The corporate assessment motivator is at 30 percent. A few organizations work in Cuba for the most part from Canada, China, Russia and Brazil. No organization from the assembled satiates works in Cuba yet its items can be found in Cuban markets. Such organizations incorporate Sherritt International, Macdonald’s Mining Corporations, Air France, Lufthansa, Mitsubishi, Toyota, and Mercedes Benz among Others. The nation has encountered all types of viciousness before and has had unpleasant relations with the United States after the ousting of the then government by Fidel Castro in 1959. From that point forward, the socialist party drove by Fidel Castro as the president until 2008 when he resigned and was prevailing by his sibling Raul Castro has represented it. Because of its past relations with the US, there have been a lot of contentions with the mode st island country. Because of its arrangement with the USSR during the virus war, it intensified its relations with the west and in 1961; an atomic war nearly broke out with Cuba and the US. With the presentation of the socialist party, which is the main ideological group there, has been such a great amount of maltreatment of human rights in the nation. There is no opportunity of articulation and writers are captured and imprisoned for opposing the legislature. Numerous associations and governments have voiced their concerns that the circumstance in Cuba is terrible for its residents as the administration was practicing all structures political contradiction, for example, self-assertive detainment, extrajudicial killings torment, and out of line preliminaries. The measurements of 2008 show that Cuba had the second number of detained columnists. The nation has a broad most extreme security framework totaling to 40 and different work camps. The individuals are limited in the jails whe re they face torment and lewd behavior combined with poor day to day environments. The Cuban human rights watch revealed that in 2010 there were 167 political detainees. The nation likewise confines resettlement, acquiring a visa is over the top expensive, and just barely any individuals can bear. There is constrained web access to the administration just working 118 cybercafã ©s and the offer of PCs is profoundly limited. With these conditions, putting resources into Cuba might be testing [3] . Cuba’s view is delightful and pulls in numerous vacationers to come and watch its immense magnificence and common assets. There is scope of plant and creature species just found in Cuba. Truth be told, 22 percent of its all out zone is limited for protection of the common habitat. It appreciates enormous estates of sugarcane, mines, and propelled medication creation plants. Nonetheless, the administration controls 90 percent of the elements of creation. The state runs and works the m ajority of the organizations and utilizes 78 percent of the work power with the private area grimly at 22 percent according to 2006 measurements [4] . Infiltrating into Cuba for a privately owned business the firm needs to pay the administration, which thusly pays the representatives. This may not be good for any business in light of the fact that there will be no inspiration of the work power. A firm may confront work difficulties wandering into Cuba on the grounds that the laborers are ineffectively paid, and are not spoken to by the worker's guild. The normal month to month compensation is 19 US dollars, which is moderately low to anticipate an enormous yield from them. The straightforwardness worldwide study of 2008, positioned Cuba as the 67 th generally degenerate on the planet. The defilement observation list (CPI) indicated that Cuba scored 4.3 which rates from zero (profoundly degenerate) to 10 (exceptionally spotless). Defilement is uncontrolled in light of the fact that t he state claims all the assets and getting administrations from the administration authorities one needs to pay a bribe.ã‚â The administration needs responsibility as there are no weight bunches in the nation and debasement is profoundly rehearsed by top government authority, for example, the military authorities who appreciate favors that common Cubans can't have. A service to research debasement was set in 2001 to dispose of defilement and acquire responsibility the administration, which is a decent motion towards the progression towards the correct bearing. Cuba has one of the most minimal joblessness rates, and starting at 2015, the rates were 2.40 percent. This is an extremely low rate and this can be credited by the firm hold of the administration possessing all the variables of creation. The administration has built up work camps, which utilize the greater part of the individuals [5] . In the event that you are to wander into Cuba and the type of business you wish to dir ect is work serious at that point searching for work might be a test in light of the fact that the populace is locked in. On the opposite side, high business guarantees that there is cash in the economy, which builds interest for merchandise and ventures. This would guarantee that the firm may develop the economy with elevated requirements of living, appropriate clinical administrations, and significant levels of proficiency levels, increase some large deals. Prior to the breakdown of the USSR, the Cubans delighted in a decent existence with an immense. After it relinquished them, the nation was dove into emergency and general decay of the economy [6] . Since the breakdown of the COMECON, Cuba has not joined any exchanging square and has since focused on building its socialist arrangements. Be that as it may, it exchanges with the MERCUSOR individuals, for example, Brazil. The authorizations forced by the United States and the European Union hurt its economy. The US has authorized a ban on Cuba, yet things are solid as president, Obama made his excursion to Cuba and it is a stage towards the correct heading. The economy is recouping because of exchange among it and Canada, particularly through its travel industry sector.ã‚â However, the administration needs to do a great deal, lessen its power on the individuals, and give them opportunity.

A Gap Year Could Be A Seniors Best Decision

HomeSurviveHigh school to collegeWhy Taking a Gap Year Could Be A Senior’s Best Next DecisionThis page may contain affiliate links.Nov 17, 2019 Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. ~from â€Å"The Road Not Taken† by Robert Frost There has been a dramatic rise in â€Å"non-traditional† students: those who choose nonlinear options to academic and career success. In fact, nearly 40% of college students do not fit the traditional profile as students who took the path of a 4-year college experience directly after graduating from high school. Among the contemporary choices being made is the â€Å"gap year† experience. For students wishing to take a year off before going to college, the range of opportunities to learn, grow, earn, and experience is steadily growing Why Gap Year? Social, academic, and financial reasons might lead a student to consider taking a gap year. The student might be young, less confident, or could benefit from a focused year to mature for the college experience. They may arrive on campus better prepared for the rigor and expectation. Perhaps the student isn’t sure of academic focus and would like to take the year off to explore career interests and clarify academic goals. There could also be a financial benefit to taking some time off to earn money in a field of interest. Perhaps the most compelling argument for taking a gap year comes from Robert Clagett, a former senior admissions officer at Harvard University and Middlebury College. His research has found that students who delay a year before starting college have GPAs that, on a 4.0 scale, are 0.15 to 0.2 higher than otherwise would be expected. What are Gap Year Options? The range of opportunities is staggering, and the student may choose among many choices or combine two or more options for an optimal, personalized experience. Here are some ideas: Internship (self-designed or through a program) Academic focus (post-graduate year at a private high school) Travel (independently, or in a program) Volunteer Work (for pay or experience) What are Good Gap Year Programs? In the burgeoning field of companies aiming to provide these experiences, of utmost importance is a program that is safe, reputable, and vetted. Some gap year providers, such as City Year (volunteer with stipend), and National Outdoor Leadership Schools (161 expedition opportunities), have been around for decades. Willing Workers On Organic Farms (WWOOF) is an educational and cultural exchange program that helps students learn practical farming skills and be part of the organic agriculture movement. Spend some time with your student discussing what would make for the best experience. For more information on the myriad opportunities that exist, visit the American Gap Year Association. An additional resource on gap year programs is the Center for Interim Programs. How Do Colleges View a Gap Year? While parents and caregivers may worry that a break in education may reflect poorly on the student, the reality is that many colleges view the gap year experience very favorably. Some schools even encourage the practice, and others still have affiliated gap year programs. Rather than being viewed by colleges as a year to â€Å"goof off,† it demonstrates the maturity and foresight to make a decision to enter into the academic environment better prepared in one year’s time. According to TIME magazine, several schools, including Princeton Universityand the University of North Carolina, â€Å"offer scholarships and fellowships to incoming freshmen who take a gap year. Harvard has long encouraged the practice. Tufts University has a1+4 bridge program, which offers gap-year opportunities for national and international service regardless of a student’s ability to pay.†¦Ã¢â‚¬ How Much are Gap Year Programs? There is a wide range of expense associated with taking a gap year. A year overseas on a mission trip could cost nearly what a year of college tuition costs. A post-graduate (â€Å"PG†) year, which is an additional year in a private high school, could cost $60,000 or more. Fortunately, there are many options that are either free, inexpensive, or offer a small stipend for volunteering. Some programs cover living expenses in exchange for service provided. Americorps fosters civic engagement and in return, will double the Pell Grant to $10,700 for students to apply towards the cost of college. The possibility exists that a gap year program could actually save money if it results in the student clarifying educational priorities and goals (less money spent on the â€Å"wrong† path). What are the Drawbacks of Taking a Gap Year? The financial implications can be considerable and prohibitive. For some students, stepping out of an academic environment could make it more challenging to re-enter a year later. A student must still be mature and responsible enough to handle a gap year experience of working, volunteering, continuing secondary education, or having an adventure. Taking a gap year also challenges the status quo, and won’t necessarily be understood by peers. It is a highly individualized decision, and although growing in popularity, gap years are still little known or understood in many high schools and communities. It takes guts to make a decision to take a different path than peers†¦ but it’s a great lesson for life to come, too. What are the Logistics of Applying to College While Considering a Gap Year? If you’re in the middle of the college admissions process and wonder if the gap year experience would be of benefit, keep doing what you’re doing (unless considering a post-graduate year; college applications would follow that year). Complete the application process just as you would if planning a Fall 2019 start date. Accept to your college of choice, and then defer through the proper channel at that college. Have a conversation with the admissions officer to make sure that all documentation is in order to ensure a smooth transition. Where Can I Learn More About Gap Years? In addition to the resources cited, USA Gap Fairs provide a great opportunity to visit with a variety of gap year program representatives. Check their website for fair dates. USA Gap Year Fairs will travel to 40 locations across the United States to connect students, parents, and educational professionals with gap year program representatives. These fairs provide students with a broad exposure to gap year programs that emphasize experiential education and personal growth. Opportunities for face to face conversations with gap year program providers, trip leaders, advisors, and gap year alumni offer attendees a personal and individualized experience.† 5 Reasons to take a Gap Year It goes without saying that a gap year might not be the right path for every child. However, it can be a very rewarding and enlightening experience and it might be right for your student if An exploratory year would allow for maturity, exploration of interests, strengthening of academic profile, or earning of money to fund education. The student would re-enter the academic environment more prepared and with clarity of goals and interests. The year is carefully crafted, researched, and planned to achieve established goals. Financial considerations are factored into the decision (cost of gap year program or earning potential through work opportunity). The academic re-entry plan is clearly articulated and properly communicated to the college. A carefully planned and crafted gap year experience can be an invaluable step in a student’s journey to success from a social, academic, and career perspective. Never before have so many opportunities existed that allow a student the time to explore, learn, and grow. With research pointing to an improved academic performance upon returning to school, and the blessing and encouragement from colleges and universities, perhaps it’s worth considering for your student. While it’s true that great care must be taken in planning a proper gap year for a student who may not be ready for the college experience, the benefits are innumerable. While we’re on the subject of the road not taken, it’s important for all high school seniors to realize that it’s perfectly acceptable to have a different path in life, on a different timeline. In the grand scheme of things, one year is a relatively negligible amount of time if it truly prepares a student to arrive on campus more mature and focused. This is a student poised for success.

The Feminist Pro-Woman Line

The Pro-Woman Line refers to the idea introduced by 1960s radical feminists that women should not be blamed for their own oppression. The Pro-Woman Line evolved out of consciousness-raising and became a significant part of the Womens Liberation movement. The Pro-Woman Argument The Pro-Woman Line sought to explain contradictory behavior. For example, feminists applied it to makeup and other beauty standards. The anti-woman argument was that women participate in their own oppression by wearing makeup, uncomfortable clothes, girdles, or high-heeled shoes. The Pro-Woman Line said that women are not at fault; they just do what they need to do in a world that creates impossible beauty standards. If women are treated better when they wear makeup, and are told they look sick when not wearing makeup, a woman who wears makeup to work does not create her own oppression. She is doing what society requires of her to succeed. During the 1968 Miss America Protest instigated by New York Radical Women, some protesters criticized the female contestants for participating in the pageant. According to the Pro-Woman Line, the contestants should not be criticized, but the society that put them in that situation should be criticized. However, the Pro-Woman Line also argues that women do resist negative portrayals and oppressive standards. In fact, the Womens Liberation Movement was a way to unite women in a struggle they were already fighting individually. The Pro-Woman Line in Feminist Theory Some radical feminist groups had disagreements about feminist theory. Redstockings, formed in 1969 by Shulamith Firestone and Ellen Willis, took the Pro-Woman stance that women must not be blamed for their oppression. Redstockings members asserted that women did not need to change themselves, but to change men. Other feminist groups criticized the Pro-Woman Line for being too simplistic and not leading to change. If womens behaviors were accepted as a necessary response to oppressive society, how would women ever change those behaviors? The Pro-Woman Line theory criticizes the prevailing myth that women are somehow lesser people than men, or that women are weaker and more emotional. Feminist critical thinker Carol Hanisch wrote that women are messed over, not messed up. Women have to make less-than-ideal choices to survive in an oppressive society. According to the Pro-Woman Line, it is not acceptable to criticize women for their survival strategies.
